The Student Innovation Lab (SIL) is pleased to announce future financial support from the Aurel Steinert Foundation. The funding will be used to further develop prototypes created within the SIL – with the goal of turning innovative ideas from students into real-world solutions.
The Aurel Steinert Foundation is committed to promoting values such as rule-based international understanding, ecological transformation, and gender equality. A key focus of the foundation is to empower young people during their education – where the future is reimagined.
We look forward to this collaboration and to seeing many promising ideas continue to grow through this partnership.

New opportunities for young researchers at KIT
Young researchers at KIT will have new funding opportunities in the future. KIT has now concluded a framework agreement with the sponsor and entrepreneur Wolfgang Grenke on scholarships for doctoral students and young researchers in the field of entrepreneurship.
The "Wolfgang Grenke Entrepreneurship Scholarships" will be set up at the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation at KIT (EnTechnon) and can be awarded with immediate effect.
Weitere InformationenWe at EnTechnon celebrate the remarkable achievement of our colleague Katherina Kuschel Ph.D., who has been honoured with the Venus International Women Award (VIWA) 2025 in the category of Outstanding Woman Researcher in Women Entrepreneurship.
This prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Kuschel’s significant contributions to the study of women’s entrepreneurship, particularly in understanding the challenges women “techpreneurs” face, such as access to funding, team formation, and the bi-directional impact of family life on business growth.
Dr. Kuschel has been invited as a Keynote Speaker at the VIWA 2025 Conference, which took place on March 1, 2025, in Chennai, India. During her keynote address, she shared data supporting the silent growing trend of “Midlife Entrepreneurs”, and the implications for society and policy.
Congratulations Katherina!

KIT-Gründerschmiede - supporting startups, accelerating innovation
Entrepreneurial thinking and action are an integral part of the culture at KIT: every year, more than 30 teams decide to found a company – and the number is growing continuously. The KIT-Gründerschmiede which has become the central point of contact for founders and entrepreneurs at and around KIT since its foundation in 2013, makes a decisive contribution to this. Today, it is one of the largest university startup centres in Germany.
The KIT-Gründerschmiede combines all activities related to startups and entrepreneurship in order to provide the best possible support. It is the first point of contact for those interested in technology-driven startups and acts as an advisor and accelerator of innovative business ideas in key future fields such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, mobility and energy. The aim is to support startups in every phase of development with suitable offers and to actively help them build high-performance companies. In addition to startup advice, the range of services includes funding advice, investments and networking events.
