New opportunities for young researchers at KIT
Young researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology will have new funding opportunities in future. KIT has now concluded a framework agreement on scholarships for doctoral students and young researchers with the sponsor and entrepreneur Wolfgang Grenke.
Under the agreement, the current President of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce undertakes to make up to half a million euros available annually for scholarships. The money is to be used to support doctoral and post-doctoral students in the field of entrepreneurship. The "Wolfgang Grenke Entrepreneurship Scholarships" will be set up at the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation at KIT (EnTechnon) and can be awarded with immediate effect.
Wolfgang Grenke is an alumnus of the KIT Faculty of Economics. As the founder of Grenke Lessing AG, he is considered a pioneer in the FinTech sector and is characterized by his social and cultural commitment. As a student at the University of Karlsruhe in the 1970s, Wolfgang Grenke had to earn his own living, which left a lasting impression on him and motivates him to support doctoral and post-doctoral students.
At EnTechnon, knowledge, methods and practices are developed to enable people to be responsible entrepreneurs. This knowledge is developed in research, imparted in teaching and used in start-up and innovation projects.
