Seminar content

Seminar content:

This seminar is the perfect complement to the Entrepreneurship Basics seminar. While in Entrepreneurship Basics you will develop your own ideas in a protected environment, in this seminar you will work on real entrepreneurial projects. The HAFIS teams at KIT consist of researchers who want to maximize the social and economic impact of their research. This seminar offers a unique opportunity to work with them by addressing entrepreneurial and economic questions in real KIT projects and recommending appropriate entrepreneurial steps.

The HAFIS teams define concrete challenges to which the students develop solutions and recommendations. At the kick-off event, the students choose a challenge they would like to work on. We discuss and deepen the necessary methods and steps (some of which are also covered in Entrepreneurship Basics ). You will then work independently in teams and cooperate directly with the respective HAFIS contact persons.

However, you will not work alone: each team will be accompanied by the lecturer, who will provide feedback and guidance in regular seminar sessions. At the end of the seminar, each team presents its results in a final pitch. In preparation, you will practice your presentation skills through pitch training, a mid-term pitch and a dress rehearsal.

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to

  • Understand and apply basic concepts of entrepreneurship, including business modeling, lean startup approaches and market analysis
  • work in a team, organize the division of work into individual tasks and coordinate the tasks to achieve a result
  • understand the specific challenges of startup projects
  • collaborate with real KIT projects and potential users to develop solutions to a defined challenge.
  • present solutions and recommendations.

Target group:

Bachelor students

In the seminar, you will work individually on your challenge in teams of up to five people. You will be divided into groups at the seminar kick-off.

Examination:

The team pitch and Q&A session is your main examination. In addition, you will document your pitch in writing and prepare a short team and personal reflection (to be submitted by 25.07.2026).
