Identifying Success Factors for the Prescription of Digital Health Apps

In Germany, digital health apps can now be prescribed by doctors and paid for by health insurance companies (Apps on Prescription, DiGA). Germany is the first mover with this approach. It opens the door for necessary innovations in the German healthcare system. Most importantly, health apps can empower the patient, make individualised treatments possible, relieve doctors and thus have a holistic and sustainable impact on the patient’s health.

Although these developments are very promising, the number of prescriptions for digital health apps is still quite low.

Your task is to identify success factors for the prescription of digital health apps and develop the first guidelines for entrepreneurs to improve the adoption of their digital health solutions on the market.

Possible Research Questions (can be adapted to personal interest):

Why do doctors not prescribe digital health apps, what would motivate them to prescribe them?

Why do patients not take the initiative to ask for prescriptions?

Which guidelines can help entrepreneurs to improve the market reception of their products?

Which other stakeholders might play an important role?
