Master's or Bachelor's thesis
(1) Motivation / Background
The photovoltaic industry is experiencing dynamic development due to technological innovations and new fields of application. In addition to technological advances, business models are also of central importance in ensuring the economic viability and scalability of new photovoltaic technologies. In this context, it is essential to carry out a systematic analysis of existing business models in order to evaluate their structure, success factors and market entry strategies. This work aims to provide a well-founded assessment of the business models and to analyze the context in which they have emerged.
(2) Research Goal
The aim of the thesis is to identify, classify and systematically evaluate business models in the field of novel photovoltaic technologies on the basis of a comprehensive literature review. In particular, the following steps are to be carried out:
- Systematic literature research to identify relevant business models in the field of photovoltaics.
- Cluster analysis to group different business models according to their central characteristics.
- Development of an evaluation grid to analyze and compare the business models with regard to relevant criteria (e.g. scalability, profitability, regulatory risks, degree of innovation).
- Presentation of the respective economic, regulatory and technological context in which the business models were developed.
The results of the work should provide a systematic overview of existing business models and enable a well-founded assessment of their strengths and weaknesses.
(3) Ideal profile of an applicant
- Ideally a degree in industrial engineering or a similar combination of economics and scientific/technical disciplines.
- Interest in renewable energies, especially photovoltaics.
- Ability to conduct systematic literature research and analytical evaluation of scientific sources.
- Independent and structured way of working.
- The thesis can be written in German or English.
