Content
The aim of this seminar is to provide students with a well-founded overview of research in the field of entrepreneurship as well as the application of scientific methods. After completing this course, Students should be able to work on a research question from their chosen research area using scientific methods. Furthermore, they will learn how to analyze research papers and will be able to critically analyze them. Another focus of the seminar is that students learn to understand the empirical approach of individual research papers and to identify strengths and weaknesses. Through tandem, self-study, presentations and discussions within the seminar, they learn to identify future research interests..
In addition, the students will be guided to work on a given research question from the field of entrepreneurship research according to scientific methods in a team of two. In the presence sessions, the students will receive an introduction to different methods such as systematic literature research, design science, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and some more.
Within the scope of a written elaboration (exposé and seminar paper) as well as successful participation, the chosen seminar topic must be processed on 15-20 pages on the basis of the scientific methods learned. The results of the seminar paper will be presented in a block session at the end of the semester (10 min + 10 min open discussion).
Learning objectives
The seminar aims to help students prepare for the master thesis in the field of entrepreneurship and to give them an understanding of its research fields. Participants will learn how to deal with the challenges of an extensive final project (literature search, selection, management, scientific writing, empirical data collection) within a short deadline. Furthermore, they learn how to scientifically elaborate and present their topic and result.
The basics of independent scientific work (literature research, argumentation + discussion, citation of literature sources, application of qualitative and quantitative methods) will be deepened in the context of the written elaboration.
The course is therefore especially aimed at students who want to write their final thesis at the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management.
