Technology-driven Business Model Innovation
Seminar using In-Memory Technology as a Use-Case
Seminarleiter Dr. Rüdiger Eichin
Business Model Innovation is of growing importance for all kinds of companies, from start-ups to larger enterprises. Technology plays a key role in this context, e.g. as enabler for new options to capture and monetarize information, or via enabling new channels to deliver products & services to customers. This seminar offers participating students the possibility to discuss this in more detail along the practical use-case of in-memory technology. We will start with a short overview of the business impact of IT, followed by an outline of the underlying trends for IT and a presentation of the next generation high performance in-memory computing engine which levers SAP ‘s in-memory technologies such as columnar databases, massively parallel processing (MPP), in-memory computing, and data compression techniques. At the end of the first day we will discuss the potential benefit and value of In-Memory Technology for business models and participants are expected to work and to present own examples for this in a second meeting.
